Ten Trends of Global People

Being “global” can be interpreted in many different ways. It could mean understanding different cultures, or being empathetic to ways of life other than your own. Being “global” can also mean you have vast knowledge about other places, often from your personal experiences of traveling or perhaps from being an avid reader of foreign books. Whatever your definition of “global” is though, there are peculiar things that start occurring to individuals who lead a global existence. The following is a list of peculiar trends of global citizens.

  1. You need to think before you say, “thank you” at a restaurant, because you are nervous you might say it in the wrong language.
  2. You sometimes accidentally cross over to the opposite side of the road while driving and don’t notice for a hot moment since driving on either side is normal to you.
  3. You become more upset after losing a chopstick than you ever do when you lose an earring.
  4. You are able to stare at one location (city, beach, mountain, etc.) and completely transform the surroundings in your mind because it reminds you so closely of somewhere else.
  5. When you order meals on Grubhub you always chose a cuisine that is different than your native cuisine.
  6. You can look at other people and accurately guess their ethic background based on their appearance.
  7. Your style shifts from high fashion or trending brands to repping a particular country for the day.
  8. You can never find your favorite beauty products where you are, so you order from your favorite oversea brands and cross your fingers that they will ship to you.
  9. Same as number 8, but with food.
  10. You have different friends you call at different times in the day because your head is a global timezone clock and you know when each person will be awake.
